Hey Curvy gang,

Chances are if you’re reading this blog post then you have already at least begun to think about getting your Mum’s or your partner’s Mum’s outfit sorted for your big day OR perhaps you are a Mum who needs a fabulous outfit for that special event and likes to shop for yourself.

Either way, we’re here for you to make the process as smooth, carefree and as FUN as possible.

In this article we’ll give you all the info you need to feel good about shopping for your special Mother of the Bride/Groom outfit for the big day.

Shopping for clothes can be a stressful and overwhelming experience for most people. Especially so when it comes to formal and occasion wear for Mother of the Bride/Groom

• Will they have my size?
• Will I find anything I like?
• What will the staff be like?
• Will I have help when I get there?
• What shapes, styles or colours suit me?

As plus size women we can feel these issues tenfold. Traditionally, options have been limited for women with curves. Thankfully, that’s where Curvy Chic comes in. We began our business in 2016 to provide an option for curvy women that goes above and beyond the (quite frankly) rubbish offering that mainstream shops offered. All whilst providing the high standard of customer service that you deserve.

Thankfully since then we have pioneered inclusivity in the bridal and fashion space and the competition have sat up and paid attention. We offer not just one or two options for curvy women but MANY options in different styles, shapes and colours for ALL, not just a portion of the population, just because that’s what society says is fashionable or desirable.

So… with that said, here are our recommendations for making the most out your shopping experience:

1. Start shopping at least 6 months in advance of the wedding date

Now, i know that sounds like a lot but hear me out. We don’t mean that you should have your outfit sorted and hanging in your wardrobe six months before. Ideally you want to start thinking and researching what kind of outfit you would like to be wearing (or what outfit your son or daughter might like to see you in if that’s an important factor for you) about 6 months beforehand, this will give you plenty of time to find the perfect dress, trouser suit or whatever plus this gives you time to get any alterations made that you might want. We can also recommend excellent seamstresses local to you that we trust and can recommend.

2. Do some research

As I said above, figuring out what kind of outfit you want starts with some light research. That can be different depending on how you like to go about it but looking for inspiration online on places like Pinterest or instagram can be a great way of getting an idea for what you do and don’t like. Have a look on our online store and pick your faves. Save, screenshot or bookmark these examples before you go to a shop. Showing these examples to us can be a great way of helping us to help you find your outfit as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

3. Don’t compromise

Don’t settle for something just because it fits or sort of fits. You deserve to not only have something that fits you like a glove, but also something that helps you feel beautiful and gorgeous on the inside and out. This is why we give so many options and offer such a large size range from size 12 – 46. We’re certain that you’ll find what you’re looking for when you come to us.

4. Bring a chum

Bringing a friend, family member or loved one who’s opinion you can depend on and trust can be a really useful tool and can help to boost your confidence. Bring your biggest cheerleader, your bestie, someone who truly wants the best for you not matter their own personal taste. If you don’t have that someone, then we will be your cheerleader for the day and cheer you on. We love nothing more than seeing your eyes light up when you look in the mirror and see the beauty you have inside you staring straight back at you!
